Amrithamedu, also known as Kurisumala (Hill of the Cross), is a prominent pilgrimage site as well as a trekker’s heaven located in Idukki district of Kerala. Because of the 14 ‘Stations of the Cross’ found here, locals refer to it as Kurisumala (Hill of the Cross). During Easter, pilgrims ascend the ‘Stations of the Cross,’ which require a pilgrim to traverse 14 stations, each with a cross, representing various stages of Jesus Christ’s last journey. When one reaches the third cross on the trip, a fair stretch of Peerumedu becomes visible, which is a lovely sight. You can also see tea gardens in the distance and the undulating Kokkad Hills. Tea plantations blanket the mountain slopes. You may also go for a hike to the adjacent Kokkad Hills. The farther you climb, the more you are captivated by the splendour of the place. The ninth Cross, which is sometimes covered in clouds, gives you an unforgettable experience. Amrithamedu, is the highest point in  Kuttikkanam region of  Idukki district. Amirthamedu provides a bird’s-eye view of the whole Peermedu area. For experienced hikers, the neighbouring Madamakulam, located on the northern side of Amrithamedu, is worth visiting. It is a natural pond that has created at the   base of a waterfall. The pond is surrounded by thick forests and bordered by huge rocks.
